Canteperwho ? Canteperwhat ?
Le Mas de Canteperdrix… what a strange name ! What does it mean ? “Mas”, that’s easy: that’s an old Provencal farm. However “Canteperdrix” is more complicated ! “Cante” makes us think at “chanter”, to sing. “Perdrix” is a partridge, normally. Some say it refers to some kind of bush “la bourdaine” which has red berries, particularly loved by birds. Others say that the word means “dry and rocky ground” and a last explination would be that the word refers to the singing of the partridges in the area !
